Paper Works
This piece was created during my art residency at Starry Night Retreat in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico in July, 2017.
By blotting away pooling water color paint to add dimension, the bottom layer of this piece creates dimension and suggests pockets of hanging clouds. Thick, dark blue acrylic paint applied in a bold, curlicue fashion onto the once-clear sky scene and then scrapped down with a metal tool signifies how our view of world can take over and sometimes enhance what's really there. Inspired by found, desert objects, I added cut pieces of yellow plastic twine plucked near the Rio Grande.
Note: This piece will be shown and for sale at Buttonwood Art Studio Oct 22-23, 2016 during Philadelphia Open Studios. Location: www.philaopenstudios.org/post/neighborh…
