Color Studies
This piece became my own, cozy small world: a train disappearing into a purple dusk. Since I've moved to the Philadelphia area I often hear train whistles in the early evening and early morning off in the distance. As I was painting this piece, I was watching falling snow outside my Philadelphia studio window and thinking of when I would get back home. The painting also feels like a martian landscape, the time of day unclear. I made a choice to rub dry paint into certain areas to create an ethereal effect.
Note: This piece will be shown and for sale at Buttonwood Art Studio Oct 22-23, 2016 during Philadelphia Open Studios. Location: www.philaopenstudios.org/post/neighborh…
