Color Studies
This green piece pops so much because it was painted over a hot pink painting. As with the other Color Studies pieces, this was painted quickly during a snow storm outside my Philadelphia studio. At the time, I was still (years later) contemplating my difficulty with landing in a new city from New York and missing friends and the familiar places I had once occupied. I Counted My Change was aptly named following a sense of emotional growth I was experiencing during this time in my life, with the double-meaning of holding onto loose change as I transitioned into the financial reality of doing art full time.
Note: This piece will be shown and for sale at Buttonwood Art Studio Oct 22-23, 2016 during Philadelphia Open Studios. Location: www.philaopenstudios.org/post/neighborh…
