Paper Works
This piece was created during my art residency at Starry Night Retreat in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico in July, 2017.
Focusing on my goal to practice restraint, I went into dried water color layers with thick, acrylic white paint and then used a metal scrapping tool to pull away some of that paint where I saw fit. I knew I wanted a bright color scheme, so I collaged cut pieces of a fluorescent pink pool float found at the local dollar store. When the piece was finished, my co-residents exclaimed I had painted the courtyard just outside the studio. I looked. They were right.
